The grade of SiO2 in quartz sand decreases with the particle size of quartz sand becoming fine, while the grade of impurity minerals is on the contrary. This phenomenon is particularly obvious in quartz sand containing a large number of clay minerals, so it is very necessary to wash and desilm the quartz sand raw ore before PTMS magnetic separator is selected.
Scrubbing is to remove the thin film iron and mud impurity minerals on the surface of quartz sand by means of mechanical force and grinding and stripping force between sand grains, and further wipe the unformed mineral aggregate, and then achieve the effect of further purification of quartz sand by PTMS magnetic separator grading operation. At present, there are mainly two methods of rod friction washing and mechanical scrubbing.
It is difficult to separate mica and quartz. Good results can be obtained by using anionic collector under acidic condition or anionic and cationic collector under alkaline condition. Generally, after scrubbing, desliming, PTMS magnetic separator separation and flotation, the purity of quartz sand can reach more than 99%, basically meet the needs of industrial sand.
